SRAM started from scratch with a purpose built X0 10-Speed Rear Derailleur after their success with the XX 10-speed drivetrain. And now, with XX seated at the top of the range, X0 has become more of the people"s champion, and if you buy your own parts, it will give you performance nearly indistinguishable from XX for considerably less cash outlay.There are differences of course. For one, it"s a bit heavier; only the outer cage plate on this X0 is carbon fiber, with the inner being forged aluminum, and it lacks the Ti hardware of the XX unit. The inner and outer parallelogram linkages are forged from aluminum as well, with wide pivots to ensure linkage stability when the derailleur is under tension in the biggest cogs. This way, you"ll get accurate shifting and quiet performance when pedaling.It"s built specifically to accommodate the narrower 10-speed chain and 36t cog. The X0 10-Speed Rear Derailleur also uses their Exact Actuation Technology along with the matching X0 10-speed shifters. While their 9-speed groups have long relied on a 1:1 pull ratio, designed to be more tolerant of the muck and grit associated with mountain biking, the Exact Actuation in the 10-speed X0 group takes the performance to another level by ensuring a perfect and consistent shift distance between each gear, all the way across the cassette. And like the rest of SRAM rear derailleurs, the X0 model is designed for direct cable routing, eliminating the typical loop of excess housing necessary with other derailleurs.The SRAM X0 10-Speed Rear Derailleur is available with Black, Blue, Red, or Gold accents and is designed to work with SRAM"s 10-speed 11-32 and 11-36 cassettes. It can be paired with one, two, or three chainrings. To that end, there are three cage length options -- Short, Medium, and Long. The mid length cage is suited for use with hardtails and single-pivot suspension designs with minimal chain growth throughout the range of travel.
